Yes, I stood in the snow taking pictures of our chickens butts...

More exciting news....
The floors are ordered. In about 3 weeks we will have new hardwood floors in our living room.
This was such a hard decision... as some of you know ;)
We have an existing floor (the dining room) that will join the new living room floor.
There is not a floor on planet earth that matches the existing floor.
Just so you know.
I ended up picking a medium brown tone to pull the darker tones from the dining room floor. It looks good with the gray walls, the white curtains, black, my sofa, rug and the fireplace....
I cannot wait!

You guys know how much I love my black and white kitchen floor. When it was first installed, it had some issues that the floor people said would go away with time... well, it's almost a year later and the issues are still there. There are bumps and lines in several places and I'm sad to say... it's going! They're going to replace it... again.
I picked out this marbly gray and tan floor. I decided for the long haul, I'd rather have something easier to keep clean. Hopefully, I'll be just as happy with this. I'll miss the black and white, but I won't miss the maintenance of it. I think the new floor will give me the light feel that I love but it'll be easier to maintain.
Tales of the Curtain Shuffle
Remember my dining room curtains?
Well, now they're in my bedroom and bathroom.
I wanted to have the dining and living room curtains match because you can see both windows from each room.
I started out with white curtains. They were fine. But then I saw these really pretty curtains on clearance at Target. They were so nice but they felt too dark.
I've learned one thing in decorating... if you have to KEEP looking at something to see if you like it, you don't. Stop wasting time and do something else.
I went back to simple white curtains in both rooms.
I get on my own nerves with this....
I've got a rug coming this week from Overstock... it's a darker rug, hopefully it will keep the table from blending into the floor.

A bedroom re-do is in the works.

Let me leave you with something pretty.
Our birds are so happy it's almost spring. They've been busy too.
There will be baby birds everywhere in a few months....
Do you have a lot going on?
I hope you were somewhat inspired :)
Thanks for stopping by Thrift My House.
You do have some really fun things going on at your home. Lots of changes you're going to love, I know! Of course, we'll all want to see the end results!

Lots of fun projects! Looking forward to seeing what you do! I'm a person that has to live with something for awhile before I know if I like it, too! And yes, I have a few areas in the midst of being re-done right now...I am tired of having paint cans sitting around and things all over!
ReplyDeleteI lived with and loved the look of my black and white floor for years. But, it showed absolutely everything. The stone look one I have now is much easier to live with.
ReplyDeleteHey there lovely lady! It's so nice to drop in for a visit....thanks for the giggles about the chicken :)
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely busy, busy, busy, but it sure looks like fun! Hugs to you!
Well, you sure have been a busy girl. Glad you have decided on your floor and that it is going to be in soon. I had a black/white floor in one of our houses, too. While I LOVED the look of it-it was miserable to keep it clean and looking nice. You will like the ease of the more neutral colored floor.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week. xo Diana
You've been busy, busy, busy Sherry! I always loved your black & white floor, but I have to say that the issues & the upkeep would be a pain. I'm sure you'll be happy with the new one.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy! We've been pretty busy around here as well with the kitchen remodel. I am so ready to have it finished! Your new floors are going to be so pretty...love the color. I'm excited to see the bedroom redo and I love the white curtains. I am changing curtains in my dining room after the kitchen reno. I got a pretty white sheer with a design in them. I think I will like them better. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry, I am so excited for you and I know you are going to love your new floors. They will look fabulous with your decor. Love the curtains in white. Your bedroom looked like mine when it got it's redo. You have to make a mess to get anything done I always say!! LOL
ReplyDeleteLoved the chickens and the swans are gorgeous.
Have fun painting and I look forward to seeing what you do with your new paint sprayer!!
Happy Spring.
Hugs, CM
Wow, you have been busy!! I'm so excited for you that you got your paint sprayer. Your black and white curtains are so pretty, but I'm really liking how you changed them out for for the whites in your LR/DR. And now you have another room re-do on the way?? You go, Sherry. By the way, are those really your chickens and swans? I want some, too, although my neighbors might protest, lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about the paint sprayer. I've been wanting to try one for years. I'm interested to see how it works for you. I love the look of a black and white kitchen floor, but at this point in my life I'm all about low maintenance and with four cats of different colours I'd be cleaning it constantly. Your new floor is so pretty, and will be a lot less work. Love the colour of the hardwood you chose!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love those black and white curtains...and I was about to tell you lovely I thought they were in your dining room...and then I found out you moved them to your bedroom...lol! They are lovely there as well :)
ReplyDeleteWow! You are a busy lady right now! I love the new floors you're getting. You will never go back to carpet again I bet. I can't wait to see all of these rooms after you've worked your magic. That paint sprayer will be fun to use.
ReplyDeleteSherry you have some great projects in the works. You go girl I cannot wait to see the reveals. I used the smaller version of that paint sprayer when I did the re love of my kitchen china cabinet. Loved how that thing worked. We painted that cabinet in less than 15 minutes with that sprayer. You will love it.
