Mopping the Floor... with a Shark!

Do you hate mopping? As much as I do?
Remember my new floors? I love the "look" of them but honestly I was beginning to have "floor regret"... For some reason, the white diamonds keep getting dirty... Ha! Seriously, the more I mopped it, the more I didn't love it. UNTIL....

I bought this. WHO KNEW! A mop could change your life. Oh my gosh... I cannot tell you how much I love this mop. I've only had it a short time but so far... I wonder how on earth I've lived this long without it. Seriously.
(sadly, no one is paying me for this, this is strictly my opinion)

It has a low, medium and high setting, each one is best for certain types of floors; I use high, perfect for my vinyl floor. The low setting works great for hardwood.

Not a bad looking mop either. It has a super long cord. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but mopping is kind of fun now. Kind of, I said. Let's not get crazy.

Listen to me when I tell you this my friends... My floor was not dirty... NOT this dirty... but it was... and I had no idea. I know it was cleaner build up mostly... because no other floor I've ever owned as been cleaned as much as this one.

I LOVE that this uses only water. No more floor cleaner buildup. It's so clean now! I love my floor again. I'm telling you, it's just like new! No more floor regrets.
The best part about this mop is:
1. It cleans with water. No more soapy build up on your floor.
2. It sanitizes. Great if you have kids crawling around on the floor.
3. It comes with 2 cleaning pads. 1 in the wash, 1 on the mop.
4. It has 2 sides to the cleaning pad, 1 side for mop, 1 side for scrub.
5. It's so easy to use.
6. It has 3 settings for different floors, and it has an attachment where you can steam your carpet or area rugs.
7. It has a long cord, perfect for large areas.
8. It was easy to put together, although my husband did it for me.
9. It's not heavy.
10. It's well worth the money. I paid $109 for mine at Walmart.

The only thing I thought could be better was:
I wish the water tank was bigger. 1 tank full cleaned my kitchen but it would have to be refilled before moving on to the dining room. No biggie, you just have to unplug, refill, and replug. It takes less than 3 minutes or so to do all this.
Other than that, I'm sold!

Do you have a steam mop? What do you think?

Thank you so much for stopping by Thrift My House.

  5. I've had two, neither this brand and I found them to be a real pain, they left the floors really wet. I'm glad you got a great one and you're happy with it :)

  8. I don't have one but we are installing new laminate flooring in the majority of our home and will need something like this. Do you know if it is recommended for use laminate? BTW...love your black and white checkered floor. I have that in my craft room and love it! Thanks so much...:)

  11. Ha! Reminds me of that commercial..."Morty! I was living in a fools paradise." Have you seen it? Anyways, yes, I own it and I love it too.

  12. Hi Sherry, I also have this mop and just love it. Don't know how I got along without it. It cleans my tile like no other. Love your gorgeous kitchen. I have the same cabinets and as you know just painted them. I started Monday and finished yesterday. I am tired but so happy at how it turned out. Will show pics soon.
Love your floor and the black and white. We have such similar styles.
    Have fun with your shark!!

  13. I thought about getting one for awhile (I have wood floors) but I don't know if it would damage them. Glad it worked for you.

  14. Oh poo. I'd love to get one of these, but I'm not supposed to use anything like that on my laminate floor. I have yet to come up with a good system for cleaning my floor. Right now I use a dust thingie and I get on my hands and knees for actual "cleaning." I pretty much hate it. :P

  17. I've always wanted one but they aren't safe on laminate wood floors (I read). Wish I could use it, because it looks like it does a great job!

  19. First of all I love your floors. We have a Shark Steam mop too, but I don't use it as much as I should. I prefer to use a mop or my hands and knees. My husband gets so upset with me because he bought the Shark to make things easier, but it's hard to get in the corners.

  20. Hi Sherry! Just found your blog. I have the 12 ml laminate floors... Mostly because I have pets but they are a hassle to clean.. They always have a residue... I bought so many cleaners. I am beginning to wonder if a steam mop with simple water is what I need...I am following along with you..looking forward to many visits.. Come on over and see me.. Maybe follow along.. Blessings!

  24. Thanks for this nice review. I need to check into this mop. I have a steam vacuum mop but it leaves dirty water on the floor. We have grouted tile. Hope this will work.

  26. I'm so happy that you are having fun mopping your floor, now :)
Your kitchen floor is very pretty. The diamond black and white pattern is so fresh.
You said that you are in the market for a new dryer. I recommend Maytag.
Ours is 14 years old and has never given us a single problem.
Thanks for visiting my blog this morning; I love company :)

  29. Love my Shark too! Just found a Shark spray cleaner to use with the Shark for times when steam is not enough. Really works on "dog slobber" and water spots! Love your floor. Jane

  31. i had that exact mop/steamer and loved it until it died after about 2 years of use...instead of buying another one i thought i'd save some money and bought a cheaper one by hoover....big mistake! i'm not saying it doesn't clean as well but you only get one mop head and one cloth cleaner which means i can clean only one room at a time (i like to change the cloth after each room, especially in the bathrooms)....i'm hoping the hoover dies soon or i might go ahead and buy another shark!
