Laundry Room Makeover
coming soon...
This is what my laundry room looked like last year BEFORE I got new floors, painted the walls, scraped off the ugly popcorn ceiling, got new curtains, changed up the open cabinets and!!!!! I'm getting a new washer and dryer. (we're still on the hunt) I enjoyed my laundry room like this but like everything else in this house....it's time for a change.
After 19 years and many minor repairs... No, they don't make them like they used to... my dryer finally died. A piece of it rusted completely in half! And my husband couldn't fix it. Thank the Lord! I'm ready to throw the rusty crusty things away. Only one setting on my washer works and that's what I've been using for years. Nope, we're not the type of people to get the latest and greatest... we use stuff till it's dumpster worthy.
So for this re-post, let's talk about what I liked and didn't like about my laundry room. I love my metal pole for hanging clothes. Totally worth having to take the doors off of the cabinets to have it. I used to have a clothes rack and it just got in the way.

After a while, all the "stuff" in the cabinets started to get on my nerves... too much clutter. I definitely made a change there.
I painted the walls a soft green because of the green in the linoleum floors. Can you guess what color they are now?

I still like this rug. It's one of my favorites; I bought it for 6 bucks at Ross. The same rug (Nate Berkus) was 30 bucks at Target.

I really don't know how I lived without this shoe bag hanging on the back of the laundry room door. It. is. perfect.

One thing I enjoyed was the makeover that I did on this laundry detergent, fabric softener and bleach bottle.
I used paint for plastic and it held up pretty good for over a year. I kept them refilled .... what I meant to say is... my daughter kept them refilled. I'm not using them in my makeover but I hope someone out there likes the idea and maybe uses it.

The pail and lint box came in very handy. I gave the lint to the birds to make nests...
they appreciated it.
This is the last look at my old laundry room. It's funny (and a little scary) to look back and see how much my taste in decor has changed in only a years time.
I'll be sharing my NEW laundry room in several posts. If anyone has suggestions on what's the best top loader washer and a decent dryer .. I'd love to hear them.
Thank you so much for stopping by
